Wasn't sure what to name the blog and I did receive some clever ideas as to what to call it (Chris you were very much in the running at clockedout). Because being engaged, let alone married is truly a novelty to me and anything in the future that comes after that will be as well, I felt the name fitting. Of course I've thoroughly included the definition in case anyone has any question as to it being the correct naming of my blog :)

So much has happened since my engagement on May 31st. All I can say is that this wedding planning stuff is crazy!! I've heard stories of course but never really been privy to any real wedding planning so unfortunately I had zero warning as to the complicity of this whole thing.

Rules to consider:

  • Be careful ever mentioning it's a wedding when asking about prices
  • Consider your budget, okay now times is by two and just breathe, it will most likely happen
  • Don't do anything wedding related several hours before going to bed, it makes for some very strange dreams otherwise
  • Grow "a set," many things will come up that you will have to stand your ground on
  • Make sure you are really in love because this is not something that should ever have to be planned twice

Because I am a novice to all that is about to come and most of you have walked the walk, please feel free to leave advice, comment or put me in my place as I humbly learn. That being said I'm excited to share some ideas for the wedding and projects I'll be working on. Our wedding day is September 24th and I can't wait to marry the most incredible man a girl could ask for. He is everything I ever wanted and then some.

I would really like for Skyler to wear a brown suit or tux, sounds easy enough right?? Nope it's not! I've been into store after store here in Utah and I seem to continuously run into the same mundane suit. My search continues, I haven't given up yet!

I love these as centerpieces, very simple yet beautiful. I've been collecting dried to flowers to use along with twigs and I'm hoping is turns out looking even partially as nice.

Thank you Kiera for finding this idea, I love love love it! In the picture they've used olive oil and I think that's what makes for the beautiful color however I love olive oil too much to waste it, oh and I know how much it costs :) I tried vegetable oil which isn't nearly as stunning, any ideas how to get the color without olive oil? I might try a little food coloring and see what happens, I also asked Skyler to bring home some engine oil for me to try (could be cool).

Who says a wedding cake has to be fancy, not me. I love how rustic this cake is, the frosting is slapped on and it's not a towering mess. Why not use some real flowers, those frosting ones are always terrible anyway.

Okay I might want a flower or two mixed in with the earthy pods but this will be similar to what I will be carrying. My dress will be the fancy thing, everything else will be earthy and simple. I still cling to my hippy roots.

Follow the wood signs, I've bought a wood burner and I already have several things in the works.
